Account Deletion FAQ
Deleting a PropLync account happens in two stages. The account is deactivated immediately - sessions revoked, login disabled, profile hidden, listings withdrawn from public search - then held in a 90-day recovery period before anything is permanently erased. Financial, enquiry, and security records are kept only for a defined period after that, never indefinitely. Answers below are grouped by who's asking: the person deleting their account, a buyer they were talking to, an agent whose agency closed, or an agency closing its own account.
The deletion flow, in three stages
Deactivation
Request verified. Sessions and login revoked immediately. Profile hidden, listings withdrawn from public search, marketing and notifications stopped.
Restricted recovery
Account locked but recoverable. The verified user can cancel the deletion. Support can assist, but can't reactivate the account without the user's verified say-so.
Final erasure & restricted retention
Personal data and media are deleted from active systems and the account is closed. Legally-required records move to restricted retention for their specific purpose only.
01Account Holder
Anyone requesting deletion of their own PropLync account.
How long does deleting my account take?
Two stages. The moment you request deletion your account is deactivated immediately - sessions revoked, login disabled, profile hidden, and listings withdrawn from public search. It then stays in a 90-day recovery period before anything is permanently erased.
What happens the moment I request deletion?
Your active sessions and login are revoked immediately, your profile is hidden and removed from search, and marketing and product notifications stop. Nothing is erased yet - your account enters the 90-day recovery window.
Can I change my mind during the 90 days?
Yes. Use the cancel link sent to your email to restore the account. Cancelling does not automatically put listings back on the public market - anything that was Published returns to Draft and needs to be republished.
What happens after the 90 days are up?
Final erasure runs. Draft listings you never transferred are removed, your personal data is scrubbed, your email is freed for reuse, and likes or notes tied to your account are cleared. You'll get a reminder email about a week beforehand.
What gets deleted vs. what's kept?
Login credentials and sessions go on Day 0. Profile details, photos, and preferences are cleared at final erasure. Enquiries you sent or received stay on record for a defined period so the other side of the conversation isn't lost. Security and fraud logs are kept for up to 24 months. Financial and billing records are retained only as long as tax and audit rules require - there's no flat rule that applies everywhere.
Is deleting my account the same as leaving an agency or cancelling a subscription?
No, they're handled separately. Deleting your personal account, leaving or closing an agency, and cancelling a subscription each follow their own process.
Will other users be told why I deleted my account?
No. If you had open conversations with other users, they're simply told the listing or profile is no longer active - PropLync doesn't disclose that you deleted your account.
02Buyer
Anyone with an open or past enquiry on a listing whose owner deletes their account.
The agent or agency I was talking to deleted their account - what happens to our conversation?
You keep a private snapshot of the listing and your existing conversation, even after the other side's account is deactivated. You won't be able to message them further about it.
Will the listing disappear from the site entirely?
It's withdrawn from public search immediately. If you already had an open enquiry on it, you keep access to what you already saw and sent.
Can I send a new message or start a new enquiry on it?
No. Once the owning account is gone, there's no one left to route a new enquiry to.
Will I be told why the listing or profile went inactive?
You'll be notified it's no longer active. PropLync won't disclose that the other party deleted their account or exercised a privacy right.
What if the listing belonged to an agency rather than one agent?
If an agent inside an active agency deletes their own account, agency-owned listings they were assigned can be reassigned to the agency instead of disappearing.
03Agent
Individual agents affected when the agency they're under closes its PropLync account.
My agency closed its PropLync account - is my account deleted too?
No. If you were only invited and never finished onboarding, that invite is simply cancelled - there's no profile of yours to lose. If you have an active profile, your personal account stays open and you enter an Affiliation Transition Period instead.
What changes for me the moment the agency closes?
The agency loses access to your personal account, you lose access to agency-owned listings and enquiries, agency branding and badges come off your public profile, and any agency-funded plan benefits end. Your own listings and history stay yours.
What are my choices, and how long do I have?
You get 90 days to choose: join another agency, apply to operate independently, hide your professional profile while keeping your account, or delete your personal account.
If I choose to go independent, does that happen right away?
No. Independent status is marked pending and only activates once your former agency's own account is permanently closed, at the end of its 90-day process. Until then, contact your agency admin if you need access - once it activates, you'll sign in again and purchase your own plan.
What if I don't choose anything within 90 days?
Your account isn't deleted. Your professional profile is hidden from directories and your listing and contact functions are switched off, but the account stays intact until you come back.
What happens to listings and enquiries I worked on at the agency?
They don't automatically follow you. Agency-owned listings you were assigned can be reassigned to the agency owner, and only transfer to you once your independent status is confirmed and active.
04Agency
Agency admins and owners closing the organisation's PropLync account.
What happens to our listings when we close the account?
Draft listings are kept privately and removed at final erasure unless transferred first. Published and Sold listings come off public view immediately and move to Archive.
What happens to our agents?
Each agent's personal PropLync account stays open. What ends immediately is the agency relationship itself - their access to agency data, your access to their account, and agency branding on their profile. Each agent then gets 90 days to choose their own next step.
Does closing the agency delete agents who never finished onboarding?
Only their invite is cancelled - there's no profile to delete. Agents with an active profile keep their personal account regardless of what happens to the agency.
What happens to buyer enquiries tied to our listings?
Existing enquirers keep private access to their conversation and a snapshot of the listing as it was. New enquiries stop once the listing is withdrawn from public search.
Can we cancel the closure if we change our mind?
Yes, within the 90-day recovery period, using the cancel link sent to the account email. Listings that were Published return to Draft and need to be republished - they don't go straight back onto the public market.
05Legal & Jurisdiction
Compliance questions that cut across every role above.
Which markets does this policy apply to?
PropLync currently operates in Cyprus, Greece and Malta (EU), England (UK), and the UAE - each with its own configured retention rules under EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021.
Are financial records deleted along with everything else?
No universal rule applies. Financial, tax, and billing records are retained only as long as the applicable law and PropLync's finance systems require for that entity and jurisdiction, not a flat number of years across the board.
How long are enquiries and security logs kept?
Enquiry conversations can remain available to the other participant for up to 24 months after the last activity on them. Security and fraud logs are kept on the same basis, with restricted access.
Who do I contact about a data or deletion request?
Use the Contact Us page. PropLync handles data and deletion requests according to the rules of the jurisdiction that applies to your account.
